The fantastic and peculiar worlds depicted in Lewis Carroll’s classic novel, "Alice Through the Looking Glass" has been a most enduring influence.
Her life changed after suffering from a brain hemorrhage due to a Cavernous Malformation in 2006, which has led to many interesting discoveries and revelations.
Through her work she creates a visual description of the aural colors and emotional textures of the symptomatic experience that surrounds her like a waking dream.
On her journey painting has become a meditative experience and healing power to express her anxieties and fears, and to give voice to the messages of survival and healing that make each survivor's journey unique.
About her work, Allison says, "Art and music can be powerful tools in the healing process. Realizing how many others I am connected to, as if linked by a common synapse, I no longer feel I'm alone... I wish to share this awareness, empowerment and hope through my art.While color, texture, form and line are important to the composition, emotions are often the driving force behind the creation of artwork."
